What is Robust Quality Engineering(RQE)?
MT System (Maharanobis Taguchi System):
MT System is mathematical and methodological systems for pattern recognition and prediction in quality engineering.
Basic Concept of MT System:
1. Define areas of normal and average condition patterns. Normal and average conditions are very similar, so patterns can be defined. It is unknown what will happen in an abnormal or non-average state, so no pattern can be defined.
2. Predicts the true value using the distance deviated from the defined pattern of normal conditions. This area called the unit space.
Application examples:
・The overall health level of the patient at present and after one year from many data of health checkups.
・Overall judgment of the effectiveness of treatment for liver disease: is it getting better, staying the same,
or getting worse?
・Determine if there is a fire based on the output of multiple smoke sensors and temperature sensors.
・Judging from various data from welding machines, etc., whether the appearance of the product,
such as flaws, etc., is normal.
・Prediction and prevention of equipment and system failures.
・Prediction of yield and quality characteristics from intermediate process data to final inspection.
・Comprehensively judging whether the product is good or not.
・Judging from image data whether the external appearance of a product, such as flaws, is normal or not.
・Handwritten character recognition.
・Voice recognition => voice to text, etc.
・Personal authentication using fingerprints
・Prediction of future land prices
・Prediction of future profit margin of the company
・Judging whether to hire a person, judging the right person for the right job after hiring ・・・・・etc.
Types of MT System:
There are many kinds of methods in the MT system, including the MT method, T method (1): two-sided T method, T method (2): one-sided T method, T method (3): RT method, TS method, MTA method, and the standardized miscalibration method, which are used depending on the purpose, number of data items and samples, multicollinearity, and other constraints.
However, the MT method, T method (1), and T method (3:RT method) are currently most used.
